I am Jovina Thomas, a 17-year old girl living in Yonkers, New York. I am a senior who loves learning. Despite of how complex or simple something might be, the fact that I am gaining new knowledge makes me happy. Born and raised in the land with the world’s largest democracy and has one of the most diverse cultures on the planet with various regions corresponding to different languages and customs, India. My life as an immigrant has shaped me into who I am today. I learned how to adapt to changes, how to fit in, but still stand out.
My motto to live by is “Love everyone like they are your family and love everything.” Love is such an important attribute for me because I am a strong believer that our world would be such a better place if we all learned to love each other and everything around us. Not only is love beneficial to our body in various ways, I believe that love is what makes humans truly living. Love is also important to me because as a Christian I consider God to be love and our faith is demonstrated through how we love others.
13th June 2007, I still get butterflies as I think about my first day in Pre-Kindergarten. A day I found my true love, a day in which numbers made me smile. I have an unexplainable love for Math because it has helped me so much in my life and I admire the beauty it possesses as well as the freedom it gives to the solvers. It has ability to describe the behavior of this physical world so perfectly. "Math is the only place where truth and beauty mean the same thing."
